We promise that ERM will be the most user-friendly and fully functional recipe organizer that you have ever seen! If you don't think so, e-mail us with questions, comments or suggestions at questions@foryourinfotech.com. 2. Installation Instructions FULL INSTALL CD FROM FYIT: Step 1. Put the CD in the CD-ROM (if program doesn't automatically start, run ERM.exe) Step 2. Choose the first option to install the software and follow the direction of the Installation Guide Step 3. Exit the DOS Setup Utility provided by FYIT and Run ERM from the start menu ZIP FILE FROM WEB: Step 1. Unzip the file ERM.zip Step 2. Run the setup.exe file included in the download Step 3. Download the Visual Basic Modules from Simtel (if necessary)*** Step 4. Install mdac_typ.exe (if necessary)**** ***Steps 3 & 4 are not required for all users. If ERM is installed from a CD then they are not required at all. Even when installing from a downloaded zip file, please try to run the Electronic Recipe Manager immediately after Step 2. If it works, great! If not, then you will need the rest of the files. **The Reg_ERM.exe file included with this install will add the DSN for the database assuming you installed the software to the default directory of c:\Program Files\ERM. If you changed the path for the database, you may need to manually go in an select the path to the database. This is done from the ODBC Data Sources on the Control Panel. You will simply have to go to the System DSN, click the COOKBOOK entry and then click the Select button. Then choose the path to the ERM database. ***The VB6 runtime files needed for this program can be found at this URL: http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html The present listing is: simvb6-5.zip 1.5M VB6 Runtime Modules (Simtel). However, it is a rather large file and we didn't want to make users download it unless it was necessary. Even without the database, users will be able to run the program and view all of the screens, getting a good demo of the software. If you like what you see, but got the error message starting the program warning you about database connectivity, you can either download mdac_typ.exe from MicroSoft at one of the following URLs: http://www.microsoft.com/data/mdac2.htm http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/uda/mdac21/mdac_typ21.asp http://www.diderot.univ-lille1.fr/an2000/Microsoft/Corrections/MDAC.asp ftp://ftp.integrade.com/updates/mdac/mdac_typ.exe Any of these sites should have mdac_typ.exe or some setup package that will install it, but if you can also just order the full installation CD from FYIT, which will include this file and much more. The full CD will actually automatically install mdac_typ.exe on your computer for you. 3. To get right to the point, the Electronic Recipe Manager is the most user-friendly software on the market. We're not just bragging ourselves up either. We have downloaded other cookbook software packages from the net and found complexity, complications, and missing functionality with practically all of them. The biggest problem we found in other software was how hard it was to use. That is why we used alternatives to get good feedback... With the Electronic Recipe Manager, users can easily learn to use all aspects of the software. Entering recipes is straightforward, the searching is complete and works in conjunction with the cabinet, the cabinet is simply checking off ingredients you have, and the menu builder lets you build menus and recipe groups however you want them! Even if you have problems understanding this software, don't worry. We have a complete user manual that we can ship with the Electronic Recipe Manager to help you out. Also, FYIT is a startup company. This means we need to keep customers happy to stay in business. Our goal is to write software that is better than anyone else, and then sell it cheaper. We hope you agree that the Electronic Recipe Manager fits our goal and buy our product for the low price it has. If you do choose to buy our product, don't worry about losing any new recipes that you enter in this demo version. All you have to do is use the Export function and select the recipes you have entered. This will save all of the recipes you select to a file that is located on your hard-drive (make sure you know where it is by using the set function). Once you get the registered version of the software, simply install it and import your recipes! Then you will have all of FYIT's new recipes along with everything you have added yourself! 6.
